The Danish Social Democrats in the European Parliament have today voted against Mr Leinen’s motion for a resolution
). We think it should be up to the Member States themselves to set the dates for holding national referendums. Over and above this, we do not think it is the Council’s task to develop best practice in terms of parliamentary scrutiny and referendum campaigning. Instead, this is a national concern.
