In favour. This proposal applies only to ‘inactivated vaccines’, not to live vaccines – which have been known to mutate causing undesired vaccine virus circulation. In recent years, as a result of new technology, inactivated vaccines against bluetongue have become available which do not pose a risk to unvaccinated animals. It is important that this proposal goes through as quickly as possible to enable vaccination to begin before the active midge season, when disease will spread more rapidly.
