I agree completely with the opinion of Jean-Paul Gauzès, the rapporteur for the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs on the contribution of the Annual Growth Survey 2012. The own-initiative report clearly indicates what the priorities are for a return to long-term growth. I share the Parliamentary Committee’s view on the need to develop a strategy focused on employment, the competitiveness of our economies and budgetary discipline. This responsible approach is the only one capable of saving our economies and thus ensuring the welfare of our fellow citizens. The defence of structural growth – that should be the role of the European institutions.
