European Parliament

I voted against the motion for a resolution, from the European Parliament’s left-leaning parties, on Hungary as I consider it to be a shameful fabrication, especially given the openness of the Hungarian Government as regards the points highlighted by the European Commission. Furthermore, the adoption of this resolution could have a counterproductive effect, undermining the Hungarian people’s confidence in the European Union. This is a situation to be avoided, especially during this period of growing euroscepticism. More generally, we are faced with a completely cynical political attack against a government legitimately elected with a large majority and that is proudly protecting the rights and the sovereignty of its own people.
