This report argues for increased controls on and protection against dumped imports from non-EU countries. As regards imports of certain iron or steel fasteners from China, it has taken into account the fact that the Council’s Basic Anti-Dumping Regulation was inconsistent with certain provisions of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Anti-Dumping Agreement. So as to facilitate EU compliance with the period of time set out for implementing the recommendations and decisions laid down by the WTO and, more specifically, its Dispute Settlement Body, the Committee on International Trade has used the simplified procedure to adopt the draft resolution. I voted for this report for the aforementioned reasons.
