Following considerable pressure from the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has finally established a new procedure for avoiding conflicts of interest within the agency itself. I welcome this move. Nevertheless, I voted against granting the EMA discharge for its budget, as this is out of the question until it proves that what is proposed on paper is being put into action. It is vital that the European Union does all it can to establish complete transparency in public procurement procedures, conflicts of interest and systematic breaches of important internal procedures.
