European Parliament

I voted for this report, recalling that joint undertakings are public-private partnerships, meaning that public and private interests are intertwined. I therefore believe the possibility of conflicts of interest needs to be properly addressed and not ignored. Accordingly, joint undertakings should provide the discharge authority with information on the verification mechanisms existing in their respective structures in order to ensure conflicts of interest are properly managed and prevented. The Court of Auditors should be asked to provide a special report to Parliament, within a reasonable timescale, on the benefit of establishing joint undertakings to carry out EU research, technological development and demonstration programmes in an efficient manner.
