European Parliament

I supported the report by my fellow Member, David Martin, on the exercise of the European Parliament’s right of inquiry. The Treaty of Lisbon gave the European Parliament the power to determine the rules governing the exercise of this right of inquiry. This report advocates the setting up of a committee of inquiry to carry out any type of investigation and to have access to all documents during its investigation. Finally, the rapporteur gives this committee the power to summon persons directly as witnesses.
