For me, the people who protested against ACTA were protesting against the imbalance which arose between the rights of producers and creators and the rights of Internet users. It is their protest. They are not against protecting trademarks or intellectual property rights. What they are saying is that cultural property should be available to everyone, but for private, not commercial purposes, so that no one should have to worry about falling foul of the law.
