At present, access to a bank account has become for every European citizen a prerequisite for participating fully in economic and social life, and the use of cash is rapidly declining. Nowadays, not having access to a basic bank account makes everyday life difficult and more expensive. This means that paying utility bills or receiving income may become problematic. Not to mention
-commerce, which therefore becomes inaccessible. Based on what has been stated above, I strongly support the right of every European citizen, regardless of their financial situation, to open and use a basic payment account, including in a Member State other than the one where they permanently reside.
